Good Morning Lancers and Families,
Last night concluded our outdoor concerts for the year and I would like to extend a big thank you to all those who worked in the last month at the different events. Luckily the weather cooperated at all of the concerts except one. Now with the beginning of the school year we will be starting ushering at MSU home football games. Saturday, September 14th is the first home game versus Augustana.
You can also find the sign ups here on our website by clicking the parents link at the top and then look at the side menu for Sign Ups.
Some general information for anybody new to football ushering is that you need to be at the field an hour and a half before kickoff. You can have two people per Lancer sign up to help at each game. Ticket takers and program sellers need to be 15 years old. Ticket sellers and ushers are preferred to be adults but I will consider 18 year-olds for certain spots. Ticket sellers, ticket takers, and program sales will be dismissed after halftime, a couple of them will be asked to give the grandstand ushers a quick restroom break. Grandstand ushers will stay all four quarters of the game, they will be given a break by one of the ticket sellers at the beginning of the third quarter. This season we did receive a raise from MSU for ushering so you will earn more than previous years, the Parent Board will set the amount at their September meeting.
Finally, I will be holding an informational meeting about football ushering before the first game so that everyone who will be working will know the layout of the field and what the different job responsibilities are. I will email everyone who is signed up to work the games before September 14th when it will be, it will be held at Blakeslee Stadium where MSU holds their games.
Talk to everyone soon!
