Final Week Information

Good Morning Lancers and Families,

It’s a busy week ahead so here is the information that you need to have about what is going on.

Thunder of Drums

Thunder of Drums is this evening at Blakeslee Stadium on the MSU campus. The Lancers will be a part of the pre-show which begins at 6:45 pm. Tickets are available at the door for $15 tonight. This is a premiere music event that takes place annually here in Mankato by the Kiwanis who donate part of the proceeds to the Lancers. After the Lancers perform, they have a reserved seating area where they will watch the show from and then afterwards, they will help clean up the grandstand area. This event will happen rain or shine so watch the weather and plan accordingly.

Fun Days Parade

The North Mankato Fun Days Parade is the final parade of the season for the Lancers. Usually they will perform their show three times over the course of the parade route. The filming area at the intersection of Belgrade and Center Street is usually a good bet for a performance spot. Otherwise look out for the 77 painted on the side of the road. Your Lancer can be picked up at the conclusion of the parade by Monroe Elementary.

Final Concert

The Final Concert at the Taylor Center is the final performance of the year for the Lancers. They will perform a modified version of “The Race” on the basketball floor and then perform their concert. The Lancer raffle will be drawn during the concert but the drawing for the big prizes will be done before the Lancers take the floor. You do not need to be present to win any prizes. Winners will be notified by their contact information on their ticket stub. I would suggest as always to show up early to this event if you want seats in the middle or down low, they fill up fast. The concert begins at 7:00 pm and is free and open to the public.

Clean Up Day

On Sunday morning school clean up is scheduled for 10:00am - 1:00pm. All Lancers must turn in their uniforms and instruments. All Lancers except graduated seniors must help clean up the music commons and put all Lancer items back into the storage closet for the offseason.

Finally, the Lancer Banquet is Sunday evening at Mankato East High School starting with the family potluck at 6:00pm and then awards in the auditorium at 7:00 pm. We ask all families to bring two dishes to share. Plates, napkins, silverware, and drinks will be provided for everyone. Students usually dress up for this event so make sure your Lancer talks with their section about what to wear for the evening. Also taking place this night will be Parent Board elections. Applications are still being accepted until Friday night this week. If you have any questions about the Parent Board or if you are interested please email me and I will answer them. Lancers is the amazing organization that it is because of the family volunteers who help plan and run events throughout the season.

If you have any questions about any performances or events this week please don’t hesitate to email either Mr. Thursby or myself and we will respond as quickly as we can.

Thank you for making the 2019 Lancer season a memorable one!

See everyone this weekend!
