The Final Lap!

The Final Lap!

Whew — what a race!

Lancers and families — that was officially one of the smoothest and most amazing trips that I have ever taken with a group. Thank you all for being so phenomenal and representing Mankato and Minnesota at the highest level. Thank you to the chaperones and staff that traveled with us for helping to make sure everything happened at the highest level. It takes a village and we made it happen!

Now we have one week left of racing and a finish line to cross!

Racing to Texas!

Good Morning Lancers!

I still have trouble letting you know how incredibly proud I am of yesterday — words were said and tears were shed, but I truly hope that you never forget the feeling of performing those 4 shows yesterday — they were ALL amazing!

Now we Race to Texas! Please make sure that you are preparing today for a long bus ride and everything that we are headed into. The weather looks very similar to what we had this weekend, so we need to hydrate as much as possible today, tomorrow, and every day on tour!

Here are my final reminders —

Pack Tonight

Do not wait until tomorrow morning. Use the packing list in the student handbook and double/triple check everything.

Be on Time

Please make sure that you are there at 8:30 ready to load tomorrow!

Medications

Just like Mini-Tour please make sure these are brought to me right away tomorrow morning. It would make it much easier if they were all in a ziplock bag with your name on them!

WATER, WATER, WATER!

We two of our largest performances of the season this week and we need to make sure that everyone is 110% – that starts today!

This is going to be an incredible trip — please review all of the rules/policies in the student handbook and let's have an amazing week! See you tomorrow!

Thunder of Drums Volunteers NEEDED!

Good Morning Lancer Families,

Next Tuesday evening, July 9th, the Kiwanis Thunder of Drums is happening at Blakeslee Stadium on the MSU campus. This is a DCI competition featuring some of the top drum corps from across the country. You will see some amazing performances out on the field which take what the Lancers do on the street to another level!

Each year the Mankato Kiwanis ask the Lancers Parent Association to help them out as ushers at the performance. Rhonda Geving has lead this for us for the past 9 years and is again heading up our volunteer contingent. She has requested 20 volunteers for the evening that will spread across the stadium to help the DCI fans find their seats.

We have started an online volunteer sign up here:

If you have any questions please email me and I will get them answered as best I can.

Thanks,

Tour Health & Wellness

Good Afternoon,

As was mentioned last night we will be very focused on making sure all Lancers are well taken care of on this upcoming trip. To help with that if you have any recent health changes that I need to know about please make sure that your health form is updated through the school district – you received these forms when you registered.

Also, if you have any prescription medication please make sure to fill out the medication form AND make sure that I receive the medication prior to departure on Saturday and Tuesday.

Medication Form

Finally, please make sure that you are doing everything possible to take care of your body as we prepare for the final stretch in some of the warmest weather we will face. Please hydrate tonight and tomorrow so we can have an incredibly awesome weekend and tour!

Raffle Ticket Turn-In & Tour Talk

Raffle Ticket Turn-In & Tour Talk

Tonight is Tour Talk and also raffle ticket turn in. We will start accepting turn in's at 4:30 pm till just before Tour Talk at 7:00 pm. Please read carefully the instructions on the front of your ticket bag on what you need to do for ticket turn in. The couple big things that I would like to stress though is NO CASH will be accepted. Please write one check to LPA for all the cash you have received. DO NOT unstaple the ticket bundles and rubber band the bundles in numerical order to help speed up the ticket turn in process. We need all sold and unsold tickets returned this evening!

The Final Lap

The Final Lap

And now entering the home stretch…The 2019 Lancers!

You read that right, we are closing in on the final lap of The Race and the 2019 season. While we still have a lot to accomplish it never hurts to say thank you to all of you for what has been a remarkable season so far. This past weekend we had the opportunity to perform and it was amazing! Now we push to finish strong!

A few reminders as we head into another busy week.

Pie In the Park

Pie In the Park

This season is racing by so very fast, it's hard to believe Pie in the Park is Tuesday already. I have pre-ordered the pies for those that placed orders with the parent board and will pick those up right before we cut pies at East tomorrow night. If you did not place an order with us, you can drop your pies off between 5pm - 8pm at the East cafeteria tomorrow night, or bring them with to practice on Tuesday morning.

Charms | Tour Payments

Good Morning,

I believe I have everything updated in each Lancer's charms account for tour payments as of TODAY, June 24. Please review and be prepared to make your final payment/turn in raffle tickets and money on tour talk night Wednesday, June 26. As always, if you have any questions, need a clarification of transactions, or to remind me of specific transactions, please contact me ASAP at lancertreasurer@gmail.com.

Thankyou!

Mid-Week Update

The past couple of days we have made some great additions to ‘The Race’ and we are looking forward to one more big rehearsal tomorrow before a busy weekend. Just a few reminders as we prepare to hit the road!

Uniforms

Uniforms should have all come home today. Please follow the instructions given in rehearsal and make sure to have them back and ready to load on the trailer on Saturday!

Saturday

As a slight change of plans we will be meeting at the Madison East mall (across from Franklin Rogers Park) to load the buses and trailer on Saturday at 1:00pm. This doesn't change the timing of the itinerary — just the initial location and it will allow us to depart directly from the Moondogs game.

Sunday

The itinerary for Sunday has been finalized and uploaded to the Charms calendar along with the website. We will meet at the Mankato Golf Club (in shells) at 12:30pm. There will be helpers showing you where to park, but I encourage carpooling by section.

Thanks for everything that all of you have done to make this season special already — now we begin the next phase of the Race towards Alexandria and San Antonio! #HUP

Raffle Ticket Sales End Date - UPDATE

In case you missed the update, the end date for raffle ticket sales is no longer June 20th.  It has been extended to Wednesday, June 26th.

Raffle ticket turn-in will open in the East High School cafeteria on the 26th at 4:30 pm until the start of Tour Talk at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.

These two events have been added to the calendar on the website.

If you need additional raffle tickets a Parent Board member will be available the next two days in the Parent Board room over noon hour from 12pm-1pm.

I will have raffle tickets available at my house Friday evening and Sunday evening for pick up from 6-9 pm at 306 West 10th Street in West Mankato.  Please send me a text to let me know you are coming over to pick up tickets though.

Pie in the Park Volunteers

Pie in the Park Volunteers

Good Morning Lancers and Lancer Families!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! And some friends, family, and fans of course! The annual Mankato 77 Lancers Pie in the Park concert is June 25th at the Sibley Park Bandshell.  The evening starts at 5:00 pm with a hot dog/brat meal with chips served with your favorite Pepsi drink!  Then to top it off…pie and ice cream!  This is the Lancer Parent Associations largest fundraiser for the 77 Lancers each season!

Pie in the Park

Pie in the Park

We are just one week away from Pie in the Park and we need volunteers and pies. There will be a sign up email for the volunteers coming soon. Now, for my favorite event.....PIE and Lancers....

Each Lancer family needs to bring 2 BAKED pies (we do not have refrigeration, so cream pies are not accepted) to East High School on Monday night from 5pm-7pm or Tuesday from 9am-Noon. Bakers Square is kind enough to do a 20% discount on pies again this year.

Weekly Update

Weekly Update

Good Morning Lancers!

I hope that everyone is well rested after a quick pit stop. As we move forward throughout the rest of the season I will do my best to provide weekly updates to help us prepare for the week ahead. Tomorrow we get back on track into our second lap! As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me via e-mail or in person if you have any questions!

Owatonia Tomorrow!

WOW!

What a phenomenal first night — we have a lot to be proud of and all of the students did an incredible job. As a staff we are incredibly proud of how prepared the group has been both mentally and physically (we did a great job of taking care of our bodies prior to today!)

Reminders for tomorrow

  1. Please prepare your body tonight — eat something healthy to refuel and DRINK WATER!

  2. Make sure that you are here prior to our 8:00am departure time and don't forget your compression shirt!

  3. We have coach buses and meals for tomorrow (lunch at Owatonna and dinner in Waconia) — please make sure to have some healthy snacks too to keep your body ready!

  4. If you have a student departing early please make sure I get the form AND before they leave you both check out with me!

Thank you all again for an incredible day — tomorrow ‘The Race’ heads to Owatonna and Waconia!

Spat Camp Wrap Up

Spat Camp Wrap Up

Good Morning Everyone!  What an evening last night!  The Race is off and running for 41st edition of the Mankato 77 Lancers Marching Band!  What a special week it has been to watch all the Lancers work each day and with every rep improve.  Seeing the smiling faces and hearing the laughter after performances from the students was awesome!  I can’t wait to see the Lancers in Lake Crystal this evening!

Good Morning Lancers — It's a SHOW DAY!

Thank you so much to all involved in making ‘Meet the Lancers’ a huge success last night — it was a perfect opportunity for us to test drive The Race on a real full length street. As we move forward, we are extremely excited for our first parade of the season and I have a few house keeping items to remind everyone of as we prepare for a big weekend.
